Forerunner Research In Top 4 For G&M The Challenge

A StFX (and AIF-linked) spin-off company Forerunner Research Inc. is one of 4 national finalists for the “The Challenge” small business competition put on by the Globe and Mail and Telus. President Gordon McArthur travelled to Toronto to deliver a pitch he hopes will have convinced the 9 judges why Forerunner deserves the prize. You can also help them win by voting here at The Globe and Mail website between July 8 and August 31 (limit one vote per person).

“After over 1,000 submissions, we are very pleased to have a chance to bring home $100,000 of no strings attached cash,” says McArthur. “We are planning to use this money to free our technical team from sales activities, so that they can focus on bringing new products to market.” Forerunner also plans to use some of the money to invest in infrastructure to help increase production capacity from 1.5 units per day to 30 units per day.

“We are happy to be recognized for our innovative approach to gas detection instrumentation and expect to have more exciting news soon,” says McArthur.

Forerunner Research Inc.’s technology has been places, from Antarctica to the Arctic. For two years, the Dartmouth, N.S., company has been providing wireless gas-flux measurement systems to researchers and energy resource development companies.

The winner will be announced on September 26.
