NB Innovation Week Set To Showcase Innovation In Youth, Research, Business

Innovation Week is organized by Ignite Fredericton along with ACOA and the Province of New Brunswick. The event is designed to inspire and create a new culture of innovation among all ages and experience.

Youth Day will target high school students from Fredericton High, Leo Hayes and Oromocto and inspire students towards a culture of innovation by presenting possible career opportunities in the area with talks from innovation pioneers, thought leaders and young entrepreneurs.

Research/Academia Day will allow attendees to learn about the leading-edge research and commercialization taking place at the postsecondary level in Fredericton. Researchers, young entrepreneurs and students will demonstrate how they are leading innovation in New Brunswick.

Business Day events will include keynote talks by Camil Samaha of Amazon Web Services and entrepreneur, venture capitalist and Emmy nominated Leonard Brody. The week will wrap up that evening with the the KIRA Awards.

Ignite Fredericton and Knowledge Park CEO Larry Shaw says Innovation Week and the KIRA Awards are a critical component of their overall innovation agenda for the province’s economic growth.

“Communication, celebration and storytelling of the amazing innovation taking place in our province is about our confidence as a region. Each time we are successful improves our chances to go further and expand our products and services for a global market,” he said.

“Our programming for this week focused on innovation in youth, research and business and we hope to broaden understanding of what is happening in our region and show how, as individuals, our future is evolving from the amazing innovations taking place right here.”
